[HaruHaru] Wonder Black Rice serum

7 ago 2019

Acabado: ligero y natural.

When I was making my list to choose sponsored products, Jolse asked me to include this serum because it was quite new and they needed to know how it could result in different skin, so I also put it in the cart.

Haruharu is a brand that, although it first focused on masks, then has begun to develop other skincare routine products, with very good results. I know several people whose maqui antioxidant and brilliant honey green creams have very happy and satisfied, as well as their mask pack.

This serum is a fairly normal product: its texture is light, it's quickly absorbed, moisturizes without being sticky and doesn't have great promises about changes, so on that side we also don't make unrealistic expectations of the product.

The brand tells us that it is a serum for hydrating, moisturizing purposes and that it provides antioxidants capable of restoring firmness to the skin.

Let's check the product features and I'll tell you my experience:

Presentation: plastic bottle containing 30 ml. of product. With dispenser and separate lid. It's not possible to open, since it is an airless container.

Promises: hydration, moisturizing, antioxidant function.

How to use: apply appropriate amount on the face after the toner and pat for absorption.

Aroma, texture and color: its aroma is herbal, with strong notes of lavender (very similar to the natural scent, I must say). Its texture is a watery gel, and its color is transparent.

Ingredients: always water first, it highlights the use of rice and bamboo shoots ferments in addition to Aloe, Betaine, Glycerin, Aspergillus ferment (a class of fungi), Beta glucan derived from yeast, hyaluronic acid and that Korean herbal trio that functions as a natural preservative (Pulsatilla, Zanthoxylum and Usnea). It contains alcohol near the end of the formula. It contains lavender oil as a perfume.

Finish: light and natural. It doesn't mattify or leave a sticky or oily sensation.

Experience: I started using it in January of this year and there are already several months of constant use. Although I still have product, I think that if you use it on a daily basis, morning and night, it could last 3 months maximum. This is what a 30 ml serum usually lasts for me. In my case it still remains because I don't use it every day, only when I feel that I require a little more antioxidants.

Looking a bit at the formula, the presence of various ferments and fungus / yeast extracts confused me a bit at the beginning. Is it a first essence or is it a normal serum? As what it contains is neither saccharomyces, nor Galactomyces (although a ferment of black rice is included, they don't call it that), nor lactobacillus or bifida, I think it's better to consider it as a regular serum.
Another thing that gives us a clue, is the indication of the use of the brand "use after the toner", is a symbol that it's a regular serum, something that doesn't happen with first essences or boosters, which are indicated for after cleansing and before the toner step.

Its quite watery gel texture makes spreading it very easy, comfortable. This texture also helps the skin absorb it quite well and that the product doesn't leave an annoying or sticky layer on the skin. The skin feels hydrated, fresh, a little more plump. The aroma, despite smelling a lot of lavender, fades after application, it's not something that will remain there, so those who have sensitive smell won't suffer discomfort with it.

On the promises that the brand makes about this serum, I think they are quite grounded and that at least it complies with most, that they are hydration and antioxidant supply. While I haven't noticed a "wow" improvement on the firmness of my skin, I know that by containing enough antioxidants it is actually doing something for it, either preventing free radical damage, or also contributing with hyaluronic acid for increased skin moisture, and therefore, look more "elastic" and plumped.

The pH of the product is 5, so it also fulfills the promise of being a product with a slightly acidic pH. In this serum the pH does not have a very special role beyond maintaining the pH balance of the skin.

Hydrates well without feeling heavy, has a pleasant aroma, doesn't dry out, doesn't feel sticky, provides antioxidants to your routine and helps soothe the skin.

For me it is a product that although it seems to be too simple, it is grounded to earth in what it does and it's a good complement if we look for a product that hydrates, moisturizes and provides antioxidants in case our skin can't handle niacinamide or vitamin C.

The packaging of this Haruharu line (yes, you've read well, because it's not a single product, but there is also a toner, oil and cream) is quite simple and to my taste, elegant. The somewhat metallic gray toned box with silver letters contains sufficient information in English (ingredients list, precautions, expiration date and expiration symbol after opening).

Inside the box is this plastic bottle with white cap, which has a guarantee seal that hasn't been opened, has this expiration date printed on its base. After removing the lid we see the pump dispenser. The big "pro" of this package is due the "airless" type pump, which makes it more hygienic, which I especially appreciate in these products that carry the Euro NApre preservative.
