[Dr.Jart+] Ceramidin Cream

11 ene 2019

Good day, everyone!

This is a very delayed and expected review, and for that reason I decided to take my publication calmly, and use other creams between its use, to compare different experiences... so, now I feel ready to tell you my impressions and experience about it.

Dr. Jart + is a brand created in 2004, by Chin Wook Lee and Dr. Jung (dermatologist). Mr. Lee decided to invest in the ideas of his friend, Dr. Jung, who wanted to launch his own cosmetic lines after having his dermatology clinic, and in 2005 they started with the production, although it was only with the launch of their BB cream, that the brand became known globally.

A moisturizing cream supercharged with 5-cera complex that helps visibly strengthens skin and shield from water and moisture loss.
Now supercharged with 5-cera complex, this deeply moisturizing cream is even more effective at visibly strengthening skin and preventing dryness in harsh climates. It also improves the condition of an irritated skin barrier caused by environmental aggressors. This cream is for normal, dry, and very dry skin experiencing dryness, itchiness, roughness, and discomfort.

Ceramides are our skin’s natural protection barrier. They are composed of intercellular lipids that act as skin’s defense against environmental aggressors and maintain moisture levels. Think of your skin as a brick wall: when it is first built, it is strong and sturdy. Over time, it needs fortification to remain strong. As we age, we lose ceramides, leading to a decrease in elasticity and moisture.

Recommended for:
- Dryness
- Loss of firmness and elasticity

Which skin type is it good for?
✔ Normal
✔ Combination
✔ Dry
✔ Sensitive

How to use

Apply to entire face evenly to retain healthy, hydrated skin.

The Ceramidin cream package is quite simple, but friendly to those who do not know or speak korean language. As the brand has become globalized, its packaging includes information in korean, english and french languages.

The box is sealed in its opening, and once removed the sticker we'll find a double cardboard protection inside which comes the cream tube. In this double protection is printed an illustration of other products of the line and its purpose - again talking to the cells as brick walls-. In this cardboard is also attached the "helper", a mini plastic tool, which helps us to use the cream tube well and take advantage of the last drop of cream we have in the package.

The tube is not the same as before. A year and a half ago, the tube was metallic, so it was somewhat complicated to use because it tended to break when bent. Now it's plastic, so it's not hard to extract the product, nor is there any risk of it breaking.

The cream tube is sealed, its lid is thick, and at one end indicates its expiration date. Remember that it also includes the expiration symbol after opening, so be careful to use it within the indicated time (12 months).

I have this cream since June, where I started to try it in an interspersed way with the Elizavecca donkey steam cream. However, my skin reaction showed me that Dr. Jart+ was doing better for my skin needs.

Then, later I opened the Dermatory azulene cream for testing, and the same thing, my skin indicated that I tolerated better the ceramidin cream.

My skin isn't that complicated, it usually resists a lot. But there are situations when weather it's too cold, or a PMS related skin sensitivity makes my skin irritated, sensitive and may even burn when applying some cosmetic. When that happens, I reduce my routine to a minimum (bye AHA and other exfoliants, and start with a powerful hydration shock routine) and a good dense cream is what usually helps. But the dermatory Azulene cream, nor the Petitfee azulene pads were suitable for my skin in those moments. In those situations I've felt a burned and painful sensation, therefore didn't help soothe my skin. But, this cream did. And in every moment my skin is itchy, dry, sensitive or irritated, this cream keep doing it.

How? I still can't fully understand it, but I think it must be because of its content of ceramides (not only ceramide3 or ceramide1, the two most common types used in cosmetics, but 5 types of ceramides).

Ceramides are an important part of the lipids we have in our skin (along with cholesterol and fatty acids) , and both ceramides and filaggrins (proteins), play an important role in maintaining a healthy skin protective barrier, specifically regarding moisture, reducing the loss of trans-epidermal water. Commonly and in a didactic way, ceramides are spoken of as the mortar that glues the bricks (epithelial cells), maintaining the union and also the shape. In addition, ceramides form a protective layer that in addition to reducing moisture loss, protects against aggressions (pollution, for example).

Although we naturally produce ceramides on our skin, due to aging and prolonged sun damage, these cells stop producing properly, or also because of very aggressive cleaning products, our acid mantle can be damaged with dryness, rough skin, irritation, redness, itching and also wrinkles. This is why it is important that in addition to mild, acidic pH cleansers, we should be careful to add products with ceramides to our skin, especially if our skin is dry, atopic, or irritated. Therefore Ceramides as products with Filagrin are useful to treat chronic conditions such as eczema, especially atopic dermatitis (you can find products with Filagrin in the line moisture barrier activator of Dr.G brand).

The cream has a buttery, dense texture, which melts easily in our hands with the heat, but doesn't leave an oily or sticky sensation on my skin. That is something that caught my attention, precisely because of that personal taste that I have to get glossy skin, which doesn't happen with this cream. After using this product my skin is automatically softer and moisture is maintained throughout the day, even in very cold and dry weather, as in this rare summer we are having, with cold, sun and very low humidity.

Its aroma is something herbal. It feels slightly a citrus scent (I think is for its content in bergamot oil) that is not persistent and is quickly faded.

Its moisturizing capacity is no joke, it's able to maintain high moisture levels for many hours, without needing to reapply cream or having to apply mists or emergency sheetmasks (which I always do in summer, both for the heat and for that dryness I tend to sense). You feel a protective layer on your skin, but when you touch it's just silky.

Regarding the analysis of ingredients, the cream is composed mostly of moisturizing ingredients, emollients, various antioxidants, some exfoliants such as lactic acid and Bifida extract, soothing ingredients such as licorice extract and Panthenol; and also by ingredients that our skin naturally produces, such as glycerin, ceramides, squalane, hyaluronic acid, cholesterol.

Some time ago I read an article in The Beauty brains where they mentioned that to look for a good ceramide cream, it was best to look for one that had different types of these, and at least ceramidin cream has higher content of Ceramide NP (or ceramide 3), and then Ceramide AP, Ceramide AS, Ceramide NS and Ceramide EOP.

In conclusion: using Ceramidin cream has always been a pleasure. It's a cream that is recommended for dry skin, but can also enjoy those with normal or combination skin in need of hydration. Both day or night, summer or winter.

I don't think it can be comfortable for oily skin users, since its buttery and dense texture could be very heavy for those who have this skintype, even if its finish is natural.

For atopic skin, for dry skin, for irritated skin or with its damaged barrier, it's one of the best creams I can mention. Although, be careful with the presence of bergamot oil. It hasn't irritated me, but you never know about each person sensitivity.

Recommended product, I made a repurchase in Jolse and if you find it, get it, because it is constantly out of stock.
