Skincarisma, new skincare tool.

8 ene 2018

Good day everyone!

Today, I was torn between decisions. Making a new review, maybe? and between that, when was entering the list of ingredients to my two favorite cosmetic analysis websites, I realized that I had never explained to you in detail about this new website.

It was last year, around April when Kevin, from the Skincarisma team, sent me an email to let me know about this new website in development, and he proposed it as an alternative to CosDNA.

But Skincarisma is more than that, and now I will explain a little more about this website and why I consider it a useful tool for those of us who are aware of taking care of our skin, and we care about what we are applying to it.
As told, Skincarisma is a website where we can see different lists of ingredients of cosmetics that have been previously entered, and if these aren't in there, we can register and enter our product lists. We can see those ingredients lists, their function and their level of security.

Up there, very similar to CosDNA.

But, CosDNA lacks precision.

My main criticism of CosDNA and the ingredients lists posted on its website has always been imprecise and the website doesn't care about people posting those lists. Anyone without logging can enter lists with ingredients that don't always turn out to be those that come in the product label, the box or the official page of the product, so we have many duplicate and inaccurate lists.

Another feature of CosDNA is that it only indicates function of the ingredient, safety (in terms of irritation) and comedogeny rating (which we know is very relative regarding each skin).

The main difference of Skincarisma versus CosDNA is its accuracy. To enter your ingredients lists you must be sure that the ingredients are correct, in addition to specifying the name of the brand, the product and the category that you think corresponds to the product. Then, the Skincarisma team takes at least 6 hours to check that the ingredients correspond to reality and if so, approve your list. That's why there are no duplicate lists and you can have complete assurance that the ingredients listed are the real ones.

The website also indicates in its different menus, other utilities: a search engine in the upper part, a list of brands, different categories of products and, finally, a Top 10 of products, within which at the moment there are only AHAs and BHAs.

Análisis de Ingredientes
Ingredient Analysis

To be able to include your ingredient list, it's quite simple and there are two ways. One option, and the best one in my opinion, is to write the ingredients in the given frame. You will have to fill in the fields of product name, brand and category to send for review. Try to be very rigorous with the ingredients and get them according to what the package indicates or go to the official pages.

The other way is by copying and pasting the link of the product file in CosDNA. That, for reasons of reliability cannot stay in the Skincarisma database, but at least you can see the product's ingredients analysis.

Skincarisma also includes detailed information on ingredients and utility for different skin types. In addition, if you sign up, in your profile you can make a personalized list of ingredients where you write down those you prefer to have in your cosmetics (good), the neutrals and the ones you consider damaging (bad) (to do that, you write the ingredient, add it to your list and then with the pencil tool edit if it's good, neutral or bad for you).

The security ratings that this website uses depend on different sources. In my case, I don't consider what EWG says -for its lack of credibility-, but I do consider what the CIR (Cosmetic Ingredient Review) indicates reliable. In addition, Skincarisma indicates different properties in the products (illuminator, anti-aging, UV protection, if it promotes wound repair, if it is useful in the fight against acne, etc.), so you know what they have, what they do not have, and, therefore, if this product finally will be useful for what you are looking for or it is better to avoid it.

To use Skincarisma, it is better that you sign up. To join, you can do it using your Facebook or Google account or through the traditional way using your email.
After that, and given the personalization, it is better that you complete the data in your profile. Skin type, skin problems, needs, favorite ingredients, for example.

In addition, with each list of ingredients or reviews that you make, you earn points that serve you for the monthly draws made by the website, or if you are a Blogger, they are used to exchange them for money if you join their Partnership initiative and comply with certain rules. In my case, Erika is with whom I deal with these issues.

¿La recomiendo?
Do I recommend it?

Si.

Yes. At least for me it is a safer tool to be aware of the ingredients of the products I use or plan to buy. Although it has its cons (one of them, that take a little time to review the lists of ingredients) that doesn't represent a problem for me because I balance security versus the instantaneous at the time of having a useful and faithful support to my reviews.

For my side, and as I have been doing for a while, I will continue to give you both links, so that you can get used to the Skincarisma analysis and can learn a little of what is good or not very suitable for your skin.
