Ayer comenzó el invierno por este hemisferio, y según lo que veo frecuentemente, la gente pierde todo el cuidado ante la protección solar, el poco cuidado, debería decir. Muchos se confían que porque está nublado, o porque hace frío, o porque hay bajo índice UV es momento para dejar de lado la protección solar y realmente no es así.
Vivimos en una época en que los rayos UV se hacen cada vez más agresivos, y donde el cáncer de piel y melanomas son una realidad dura y frecuente.
La reseña de hoy, es sobre un protector solar de la marca Missha, de filtros orgánicos (químicos) y que promete fácil aplicación, con un acabado ligero.

La caja en que viene este protector solar es metalizada y en tono verde agua. De todo el empaque no puedo rescatar nada útil en inglés, pues todo está impreso en hangul, y sólo hay una fecha disponible en el empaque, que corresponde a la fecha de vencimiento. De cualquier modo, recuerda que el tiempo máximo de duración de los protectores solares una vez abiertos, es de 12 meses.
La botella del protector solar es pequeña (formato de 40 ml), y tiene una tapa rosca con el mismo tono verde agua azulado de la caja, y es metalizada. La boquilla dispensadora es pequeña.
El frasco es blanco con bastantes brillos de perlescencia, el empaque en si luce muy elegante y las letras no se han borrado con el uso.

The sunscreen box is metallic and water green toned. Of all the packaging I cannot rescue anything useful in english, because everything is printed in hangul, and there's only one date available on the package, which corresponds to the expiration date. In any case, remember that the maximum lifespan regarding sunscreens once opened is 12 months.
The sunscreen bottle is small (40 ml format), and it has a screw cap with the same bluish green water color of the box, and it is metallic. The dispenser nozzle is small.
The bottle is white with plenty of pearlescence, the packaging itself looks very elegant and the letters have not been erased with use.
Después de la experiencia muy positiva que tuve con otro protector solar de Missha, también con promesas hidratantes, es que quise seguir probando otras versiones de la misma marca. De Beauty Box Chile me ofrecieron alguno para probar, y elegí éste, ya que al ser tipo esencia asumí que hidrataría más que uno regular, como es su promesa.
Pero lamentablemente no fue del todo cierto.
Si bien la formulación es muy ligera, hay un par de detalles que me echan atrás. Son salvables si, pero la idea es no tener nada que mejorar o no tener que intervenir el acabado del producto. Comodidad ante todo.
Presentación: este protector solar tiene dos presentaciones, de 40 y 70 ml. La presentación de 40 ml, que es la que tengo, es muy pequeña -cabe en la palma de la mano- y es ideal para llevar en la cartera.
Modo de uso: se aplican 3/4 de cucharadita de té en cara y cuello, en el último paso de tu rutina de cuidado facial. Lo ideal es que apliques al menos 15 minutos antes de salir y no apliques maquillaje de inmediato, sino ya pasados 10 minutos. Debes reaplicar si vas a volver a estar expuesto.
Textura: líquida, tipo gel. Su color blanquecino no da muchas luces de la textura gel, pero una vez puesto en contacto con el calor de la piel, verás que tiende a resbalarse y derretirse.
Aroma: tiene un fuerte aroma a alcohol y a un perfume floral. El aroma no se difumina fácilmente ni rápidamente, persiste por un momento.
Ingredientes: uno de los ingredientes más polémicos, especialmente para piel sensible y seca, es la presencia de alcohol denat en el segundo lugar de la fórmula. Luego vienen los filtros solares (5 en total) que combinados, dan una protección de amplio espectro frente a UVB y UVA. Contiene extractos hidratantes y calmantes.
Acabado: al momento de la aplicación, el acabado es jugoso. Luego de unos minutos, queda mate, con textura de polvos. No es pegajoso.
Mi experiencia: como les contaba anteriormente, la experiencia con el moisture sun gel había sido bastante buena, y lo que busco de los protectores solares actualmente, es que me brinden la mayor protección posible, que no me dejen capa blanca, que mantengan o potencien la hidratación de mi piel, demasiado importante en mi caso, que mi piel se ha normalizado bastante e incluso siento que luce mejor cuando está balanceadamente hidratada.
Por eso es que con los primeros usos quedé confundida y sorprendida. ¿No decía la marca que era un producto hidratante?, Entonces, ¿Por qué yo lo sentía con ese acabado mate y como si hubiese usado polvos?. Y luego al comprobar los ingredientes, todo tuvo sentido.
El alcohol denat. va en el segundo o tercer lugar dependiendo del lugar dónde veas los ingredientes, y eso ya es un problema para pieles secas, reactivas o sensibles. El alcohol per se no es un ingrediente dañino, siempre cumple con una función, pero lamentablemente si buscas algo hidratante, el que el alcohol, y específicamente el alcohol denat -resecante por excelencia- esté tan arriba en la lista, indica que el producto tan hidratante no será.
El alcohol en estos lugares, en una formulación ligera, empeora la pérdida de humedad de la epidermis, que es lo que menos necesita la piel seca. También, en pieles reactivas o sensibles, es un ingrediente que puede resultar irritante.
En mi caso, este protector no me resecó la piel, ni tampoco la irritó, pero si pasa que cada vez que lo uso, las mediciones muestran una baja notoria en mis niveles de hidratación. Es por ello que, dado que mi preferencia en cuanto a acabados va por lo humectante, jugoso, brillante, utilizo tras su aplicación brumas faciales y/o primers de acabado brillante, que contengan aceites e ingredientes hidratantes. Eso ayuda? yo veo que si, al menos no siento mi piel tan falta de jugosidad o de brillo, y también ayuda a que el maquillaje que aplique no presente parches secos.
Entre los puntos positivos, está la fácil aplicación. Como su textura es ligera, tan solo basta esparcirlo para que quede bien aplicado. No deja capa blanca, por lo que no debes preocuparte de que quede una textura dispareja en cuanto a tonos en tu piel, y como no lleva filtros minerales, la reaplicación o aplicación sobre el maquillaje (para cuidar la piel ante la exposición prolongada) es fácil de hacer, sin que se sienta la piel pesada, sucia o pastosa.
En definitiva, creo que es una buena opción para quienes tengan piel normal a grasa, o para quienes gusten de acabados semimate a tipo polvos, sin sentir esa pesadez tan típica de los filtros minerales.
Les aviso que Missha hace poco cambió todos los empaques de su línea de protección solar, revisé los ingredientes y ésta variedad no tuvo cambios. El protector que ya no existe es el moisture sun gel.

After the very positive experience I had with another Missha sunscreen, also with moisture promises, I wanted to continue testing other versions of the same brand. From Beauty Box Chile -a local store- they offered me some to try, and I chose this one, since being an essence type sunscreen I assumed that it would hydrate more than a regular one, as is its promise.
But unfortunately it wasn't entirely true.
Although the formulation is very light, there are a couple of details that push me back. They are manageable, but the idea is to have nothing to improve or not have to intervene the product finish. Comfort first, my motto.
Presentation: this sunscreen has two presentations, 40 and 70 ml. The 40 ml bottle, which is what I have, is very small - it fits in the palm of your hand - and it is ideal to carry in your purse.
How to use: apply 3/4 teaspoon of tea on your face and neck, in the last step of your skincare routine. Ideally, apply at least 15 minutes before leaving and don't apply makeup immediately, but after 10 minutes. You must reapply if you're going to be exposed again outdoors.
Texture: liquid, gel type. Its whitish color doesn't give many lights of the gel texture, but once put in contact with the heat of the skin, you will see that it tends to slip and melt.
Aroma: has a strong aroma of alcohol and a floral perfume. The aroma does not fade easily or quickly, it persists for a moment.
Ingredients: one of the most controversial ingredients, especially for sensitive and dry skin, is the presence of alcohol denat in the second place of the formula. Then come the sunscreens filters (5 in total) that combined, give a broad spectrum protection against UVB and UVA. Contains moisturizing and soothing extracts.
Finishing: at the time of application, the finish is juicy. After a few minutes, it is matt, with powder texture. It's not sticky.
My experience: as I told you before, the experience with the moisture sun gel had been quite good, and what I'm looking for from sunscreens today, is that they give me the greatest protection possible, that they don't leave me white, that they maintain or strengthen the hydration of my skin, too important in my case, that my skin has normalized enough and I even feel that it looks better when it is balanced hydrated.
That is why with the first uses I was confused and surprised. Didn't the brand said it was a moisturizing product? Then, why did I feel it with that matt finish and as if I had used loose powders? And after checking the ingredients, everything made sense.
Alcohol denat. It goes in the second or third place depending on where you see the ingredients, and that is already a problem for dry, reactive or sensitive skin. Alcohol per se is not a harmful ingredient, it always fulfills a function, but unfortunately if you're looking for something moisturizing, alcohol, and specifically the denat alcohol -drying par excellence- is so high on the list, it indicates that the product so moisturizer won't be.
Alcohol in these places, in a light formulation, worsens the loss of moisture from the epidermis, which is what dry skin needs the least. Also, in reactive or sensitive skins, it's an ingredient that can be irritating.
In my case, this protector didn't dried my skin, nor did it irritate it, but something that happens every time I use it, the measurements show a marked drop in my hydration levels. That is why, since my preference in terms of finish goes through moisturizing, juicy, shiny, I use after apply this sunscreen some face mist and/or glowy finish prebases, containing oils and moisturizing ingredients. Does that helps? I think so, at least I don't feel my skin lacking of juiciness or brightness, and also helps that the makeup applied doesn't present dry patches.
Among the positive points, there is the easy application. Since its texture is light, it's enough to spread it so that it is well applied. It doesn't leave a white layer, so you shouldn't worry about uneven texture in terms of skin tone, and since it doesn't have mineral filters, reapplication or application over makeup (to take care of the skin during prolonged exposure) is easy to make, without feeling heavy, dirty or cakey skin.
In short, I think it's a good choice for those who have normal to oily skin, or for those who like semimate to powder-like finishes, without feeling that typical heaviness of mineral filters.
I notice that Missha recently changed all the packages of their suncare line, I checked the ingredients and this variety didn't changed the formulation. The only sunscreen that no longer exists is the moisture sun gel (the big yellow one).
